Script Interpretation: Breaking Down the Classics

For Actors, Directors & Writers

Join Marjorie Ballentine’s exclusive 6-week SCRIPT INTERPRETATION course starting July 13th, where she will guide actors through Clifford Odets’ Rocket to the Moon.

Actors can enroll as performers or observers, with additional spots available for observing on Zoom. This class is a fruitful and expansive course for actors, writers, and directors alike with skills that they can carry over to their respective professions.

The class will include:

• A detailed breakdown of the play’s theme 

• The playwright’s point of view 

• The through-line of each character 

• The social situation

• The historic moment

• The direct implementation of all the research to the performance

How the class will run:

The first class begins with a lecture of the script breakdown derived directly from Stella Adler’s unpublished notes. In the following classes, Marjorie will direct actors in assigned scenes and apply the skills of script interpretation to the rehearsal and performance process.
